Different Monotonicity Definitions in Stochastic Modelling

چکیده
In this paper we discuss different monotonicity definitions applied in stochastic modelling and discuss the relationships between them. Obviously, the monotonicity concept depends on the relation order that we consider on the state space. In the case of total ordering the stochastic monotonicity used in stochasticmodelling and the realizablemonotonicity used in perfect simulation are equivalent to each other while in the case of partial order there is only an implication between them.

Stochastic bounds for a single server queue with general retrial times
We propose to use a mathematical method based on stochastic comparisons of Markov chains in order to derive performance indice bounds. The main goal of this paper is to investigate various monotonicity properties of a single server retrial queue with first-come-first-served (FCFS) orbit and general retrial times using the stochastic ordering techniques.
متن کاملApplication of Stochastic Optimal Control, Game Theory and Information Fusion for Cyber Defense Modelling
The present paper addresses an effective cyber defense model by applying information fusion based game theoretical approaches. In the present paper, we are trying to improve previous models by applying stochastic optimal control and robust optimization techniques. Jump processes are applied to model different and complex situations in cyber games. Applying jump processes we propose some m...
متن کاملHierarchical Stochastic Activity Networks: Formal Definitions and Behaviour
Stochastic activity networks (SANs) are a powerful and flexible extension of Petri nets. These models can be used for the modelling and analysis of various kinds and different aspects of distributed real-time systems. Similar to other classical extensions of Petri nets, SANs have some limitations for modelling complex and large-scale systems. In order to remove some of these limitations and pro...
متن کاملStochastic Monotonicity and Continuity Properties of the Extinction Time of Bellman–harris Branching Processes: an Application to Epidemic Modelling
The aim of this paper is to study the stochastic monotonicity and continuity properties of the extinction time of Bellman–Harris branching processes depending on their reproduction laws. Moreover, we show their applications in an epidemiological context, obtaining an optimal criterion to establish the proportion of susceptible individuals in a given population that must be vaccinated in order t...
متن کاملA note on some sufficient conditions for mixed monotone systems
Mixed monotone systems form an important class of nonlinear systems that have recently received attention in abstraction-based control design area. Slightly different definitions exist in the literature, and it remains a challenge to verify mixed monotonicity of a system in general. In this paper, we first clarify the relation between different existing definitions of mixed monotone system, and...
